Working as a zoo keeper...

Sat Mar 8, 2008, 11:12 PM
I went down to somerset on friday to work as a zoo keeper on saturday. I met some people my dad went to guana with, people who hunt monsters, my dad was writing a book about them. On friday evening, there was a BCIB (Big Cats In Britian) talk, we had to come up with a slogan. Ours won. We got some fudge.
Our slogan was 'What's the best cat in the world? Catson 3000!'...My dad came up ith it.

The next day, we started out in the tropical hall with the Parrot, reptiles and mongooses. We had to wait for a bit till the keeper had finished filling up the mini-river. Her name was Claire. We went into the food preparation room, we had to make wallaby food and emu food. One of the wallaby's had a tiny joey and another was albino! Then we went downstairs to feed some of the other lizards and insects. I loved the giant millipeads. Then we went back upstairs and got the otter food. This was dead mice. My little sister fed them it. Then we went to the Tapir and cleaned her out and fed her. We saw one of the two escaped Agouti's. Then we went to the sick animal area and fed a bird. I can't remember it's name. Then we collected some hay and went to the wallaby and emu enclosure. We cleaned them out and fed them. Half-way though cleaning them out, I turned around and behind me were some Emu's. Then they pecked me D:

After that, we got to see the Gibbon's being clicker trained. One of them, Odo, was really naughty. He liked to show people his bum XD He did this awesome thing where he has his foot-thumb in his mouth. His mate, Junz, was really shy and claustraphobic. She hated going in the smaller section.

After that, we fed the White Tree Frogs, live locusts, the Iguana's some fruit and veg and so on. When we got to the Uromastyx, this was the best bit, we got to handfeed them some live wax worms. They were all climbing out trying to get more. After that, we fed a Leopard Gecko, who was underweight and had a bad eye, some live locusts. We had to take him into the feed room though.

Then we cleaned out the Uromastyx. They were all piled up on a diagonal rock, trying to get closest to the heat lamp. Then one would move and they'd all fall down.

That was our last job. It was tiring but, the best day of my life so far!

Tired of it all

Sorry if this is whiney.

It's just, I work so hard on all of my art. I spend hours making it good. What for? 14 watchers and about 75% of them are friends that have left DA. Over all my art, only 55 favorites. I get roughly 5 views per day. Most of them are me at school. I get under 0.20 favorites per day.

I have wanted to be a popular artist for a long time. It doesn't look like it's gonna happen in this lifetime though.

Why do I still try?
